Legal Protection for Inspection Stations

All Official Safety and Enhanced Safety Inspection Stations must comply with the regulations of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.  Only safety inspection stations appointed under an Enhanced Vehicle Safety Contract by PennDOT may inspect reconstructed, flood, specially constructed, recovered theft, collectible, modified vehicles and street rods for compliance with all applicable equipment and inspection rules for the purpose of titling the vehicle in Pennsylvania. All applications for vehicles that require any type of title brand coming into Pennsylvania from another state or jurisdiction must be submitted to PennDOT for processing.

Changes in personnel within the Vehicle Inspection Division and the Legal Office over the past few years have resulted in far more prosecutions for sometimes minor violations with penalties that nevertheless are quite severe.  All data entered within the E-Safety System and other computerized systems are now rigorously analyzed for possible violations.  If PennDOT has issued an Order of Suspension of your safety or emission inspection privileges, timely contacting an attorney is essential, especially because a stay of the suspension is not automatic.  You need competent legal counsel immediately.  Phil Zulli can help you.
